total no. of the students in a class is = 35
let, the strngth of boys say = x
then, the strength of girls should be = 2/5 x
hence, the equation is
= (x+ 2/5x) = 35
= (1+2/5)x = 35
= (7/5)x = 35
= 7 x = 35*5 = 175
= x = 175/5
hence, x = 25
and hence, the total boys = x = 25
and the total girls = 2/5*25 = 10

The ratio of the number of girls to that of boys is 2/5.
This means if there are 2 girls then 5 boys will be there. This further means 7 students will be there. So, if 35 students are there then the number of boys will be 5times5 which is 25 and the number of girls will be 2 times 5 which is 10.

If it means that (number of girls / number of boys = 2/5)
So:
2/5 + 1 = 35 then:
7/5 = 35 then:
1/5 = 5 then:

By strength do you mean there are 2 girls for every 5 boys?
If so you need todivide 35 by 7 (2 +5) = 5
so then number of
girls is worked out as 2*5=10 and
boys is worked out as 5 *5=25 the total altogether is 25boys + 10 girls = 35 children
