THIS IS NOT MY HOMEWORK...
That is normally the first answer I get when I ask a question like this, so I'll get that out of the way up front.

What are some of the public policies that you believe lead to the feminization of poverty?

NO really, this is not homework. I have a BA in Political Science and sometimes think about things like this.

Doesn't everyone have thoughts...?

Hmm. tough question. My initial thought is that government policies regarding reproductive rights and childcare are the biggest influencers. For example, if there is no policy in place that would allow women to take time off from their jobs to give birth, and then get their job back when they're ready to return, it could lead to them getting fired and thus losing their source of income. The Family Leave Medical Act (FMLA) in the United States was passed to help deal with that problem. Still, our policy is not nearly as progressive as ones in many European countries. Also, restrictions on abortion may lead to the feminization of poverty, for the same reasons.

whilst Republican financial regulations eliminate a super chew of the wealth of maximum persons of the rustic, even the ultimate liberal regulations does no longer be waiting to sluggish it. you haven't any longer even seen a very liberal coverage enacted by potential of the Democrats, so it somewhat is a very ordinary fact you have made. you have seen some limited centrist stimulus applications that have been enacted before or only after Obama took place of work, and the centrist Obamacare. you probably did no longer see the government spend money to create ineffective jobs, you probably did no longer see the government take over well being care, and you basically observed the "non everlasting" Bush tax cuts on the prosperous expire final 12 months. There have not been any liberal regulations enacted. So what on earth makes you believe that they does no longer paintings? Are you between the adult adult males blaming Jimmy Carter for 2008?

Are you SURE thisn't isn't a Sociology class question? Policies? We have Title IX, We have a woman's right to vote (we ARE talking about the united States right?) -- 16 Aug 1926. We have the courts awarding child custody to women along with healthy child support and spousal support payments. I was told by the judge that I'd make a lousy father because I'm a man and I was in the military. She was given $638 a month. Three months later, she abandoned our son. It took me three years to get him back and her child support (?), a whopping $100 a month. She never paid.
People are people. It seems the policies of today encourage and enable us to make (repeatedly) bad life decisions. WIC, welfare -- the more children you have, the more money you get. Free clinics. Where's the accountability?
