i own a repair shop,and you need to check and see if it getting fire to it,the coil pack may have went bad on it ,,or the control module,and this will make it not start at all,i do this for a living so i have done a few of those ,but if you,ll check it you,ll probably find its not getting any fire to it,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

You have confused two different systems in your question. Fuel pumps don't "Fire", they simply either run and pump, or they don't. Check to see if you are getting fuel under pressure as all the mid 90's and up Chevy trucks are problematic on the fuel pumps. Also you have to know if you are or are not getting spark to the plugs when the engine rolls over to crank. If you aren't getting fuel though, (and first place I'd check) then the fuel pump or the relay for it (under the hood in the fuse box) is the problem and that should fix it. If doesn't fire at the plugs then a whole list of other stuff that could cause the problem. So many of these fuel pumps go out and often suddenly on these trucks that I am leaning very heavily towards that being the trouble. I think I could do these in my sleep after this long. :-)

There are a number of items that might keep it from starting. When did it quit running? Is it wet? Typically a crank sensor and /or cam sensor are the problem. But you should have it tested by a technician first or you can spend a lot on parts and it still might not be fixed. How many miles? did it just not start in the morning? Most timing chains on engines around 100,000 miles jump due to being worn out either taking off from a stop or first start-up in the morning. And we've not even gotten to distributorless ignition yet! Have it check and you might save some money.

Among many other things that can cause your problem, see if you are getting spark.
If not theres a sensor in the distributor that goes bad on these. (crank position sensor will cause a no spark condition, sometimes they are intermitent, sometimes they aren't. if you have spark, you may have other issues. Is the new fuel pump working? have you checked, if it isn't you may have just changed on for no reason.

You should check for spark If your fuel supply is there if there is no spark check the Ignition system distributor, coil, and power supply to the coil it may be a unified distributor with the coil housed in the distributor. Look for the cap to be burned or crack if there is any of these signs replace the rotor button, distributor cap, and coil.

If the fuel pump is new and working then you need to start looking into an ignition system or fuel injector problem.

coil packs may need checking or a wire come off, check if spark is there by removing sparkplug wire and see if spark jumps to motor
if spark is good it may be a fuel problem, change fuel filter

I would first ck to see if pink wire going to ign coil is hot.Have seen this wire break at conn inside insulation.look at it real close and see if its ok .if ok ck crank sensor ,If you stll have a no start then i would advise to have a tech ck it with scan tool.

check your fuses. i had it happen to me once. i had a 1988 chevy cavalier z24 with a 3.1 litter engine in it. it took me for ever to figure out it was a fuse. it should say engine main or something or other
