Did you fiddle inside the computer?

Your sound card might not be in properly. Very common.

Turn your computer off. Take it out and put it back in.

If it still does not work, don't give up. Do it again. Make sure it is push all the way into the slot.

The problem you mentioned is not a rare one. Many of us face such problems after reinstallation or formatting. After all you have got the net connection so dont worry. Better go to the web-site of your sound card manufacturer company and surf around for a solution. Or else if u have got a cd install it. I can help only upto that as you have not mentioned your sound card manufacturers name. Thanks.
