It is extremely uncommon for women to get pregnant while having a period. It can happen, but seldom does.
The reason: conception (becoming pregnant) has to happen around the time of ovulation in a woman (the egg being released from the ovary) Women ovulate during the middle of their menstrual cycle. The cycle starts with the first day of the period and ends with the start of the next period. Ovulation varies from woman to woman, as does cycle length (how many days between the start of one period until the start of another period)
Ovulation always occurs 14 days before the start of the next period. therefore, you can not predict when the woman will become pregnant, because you do not know if ovulation has occurred until the next period (which will not happen if she is pregnant)
Always use protection.
Because you just never know. There are always incidents where out of the ordinary things happen. For instance, if something is just not right with one particular cycle, the woman could ovulate early, or if the woman has short cycles to start with. So don't take your chances. Use protection.

Your highest chance of getting pregnant is when your ovulating (usually around day 14 of your cycle), but there still is a small chance that you could get pregnant while on your period.

Yes. It is just not as high of a chance. Every woman's cycle is different and though most women ovulate about two weeks after their menstrual period... never say never. This is how "accidents" happen all the time.

yes. It's been known to happen that when the egg is in the uterus, as it is during the menstrual period that it is to be expelled, if it is fertilized, then it immediately makes a journey to the uterus wall to embed itself and resume the reproduction process.
It is also common to double ovulate, which means that an egg from each ovary is released and not always simultaneously, could release days, even weeks apart, not especially producing a separate menstruation.
That is why due dates are approximate, not exact.

Chances are very slim for a woman to get pregnant on her period. The best time to try to concieve is to have sex right before she ovalutes, so the sperm can fertilize the egg and start the reproduction process.

What?! It is as high of a chance as if she wasn't on her period. Just because she on the flow doesn't mean she can't it's very likely.

I got PG with my Daughter on my period so it does happen and no time is safe. If you want to ensure that it doesn't happen use a form of birth control or abstaine from having sex.
