African or African-American?

Mercy Amba Oduyoye is an African feminist theologian.

African American feminist writers are alot more accessible-- Alice Walker, OCtavia E. Butler, Audre Lorde would make a good start.

As for Sojourner Truth, recent biographer Nell Painter reveals strong evidence that Truth did not actually give the "AIn't I a Woman" speech.... worth checking into....

For feminism in African-American literature, try "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston and "Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl" by Harriet Jacobs. Also, the text of Sojourner Truth's famous "Ain't I a Woman?" speech is incredible.
