The best way to become more flexible is to stretch daily. Take about fifteen minutes every day to devote just to practicing your splits and stradle sitting. To respond to a previous answer, DON'T do gymnastics if you are focusing on dance. If you want to be a gymnast, you can do dance, but if you want to be a dancer, you can't do gymnastics. It screws with your posture and everything you're supposed to do for dance. Also, you can trying doing pilates and yoga, both of which will stretch and strengthen your muscles and core.

Some good ways to practice your splits are going against a wall while straddling and push. Also, lay on your back with you legs up against the wall and let your legs go in opposite directions, letting gravitiy pull them towards the ground.

You need to practice everyday. I got my perfect split after a 3 months of gymnastics, once a week. You should go to gymnastics to get flexible along with dancing. That's what I did. After taking gymnastics til you are as flexible as possible, just stretch everyday and you won't have to go to gymnastics anymore.
