If you have a Series 2, go the Ethernet route, you'll be much happier.

Do you have a TiVo Series 1 or a TiVo Series 2?

A Series 1 requires a phone line which will support it's analog phone modem. Digital phone service may not support analog phone modems.

The Series 2 supports both phone and broadband (DSL or CableModem) networking.

If you have a Series 2, look into connecting the TiVo to your home network either through wireless or through a Cat-5 ethernet cable.

I have my TiVo Series 3 connected via WiFi wireless to my network and it works just great.

I have a TiVo series 1 (Sony SAT-60). I also have digital phone service. There is no problem. Call the phone co. call TiVo again, and go to the TiVo community forum http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/
and search for "digital phone" to see what others have done. If there is nothing, post a question.

I have a Tivo 2 hooked up with DSL service, sounds like you need a filter between your phone line and Tivo, they should have been supplied with your service or try getting them from Radio Shack.
