I am 40 and was born hearing impaired, 95 % hearing loss~I wear hearing aids behind each ear. I have never let them show because I feel I will only make it so a guy either runs off, think I am high maintance or a disabled stupid chic. I do not consider my self disabled if fact I don't know even if I fit into that catagory. I am very attractive, fun, smart, and can speak english and sign

A hearing aid would not detract from an otherwise nice woman. If I liked her, a hearing aid would not change that.

If you listen and pay attention. That is the main concern for most folks. A friend or spouse is the most important listener.

In my experience, with communication issues, the deaf are more attentive communicators than even the hearing. You watch everything that is being said and "not said". I actually learned some sign to talk to my friend while we shopped or ate out, since I could not hear her over the distance or loud sounds.

You have a lot to share and teach us. It is a blessing to be so outgoing, take chances and most of all make every day matter.

The only concern I have for you, is the ignorance of others.

Most folks don't understand that you are just a normal person with a "thing" We all have a "thing" and your is just the ears> Oh well.

If they can't see past that, they don't deserve you!

Im 17 and have been wearing hearing aids since i was 10. I stopped wearing hearing aids, because i was afraid of what people thought.I still dont wear hearing aids, because i havent changed the battery in years and i just dont feel like adding another chore for me to deal with. Plus im so used to not wearing them, wearing them now gives me a headache. But my philosophy is if a person wants to pick on you/not talk to you because you wear hearing aids that person is not worth it. If a guy thinks your high maintnance when he first sees you wear hearing aids hes going to think the same thing when you show them to him later. A real man is going to like you regardless of hearings aids. If i were you i wouldnt worry about it. Be proud you can hear, and dont let guys(who can be immature) bring you down. They are not worth your time.
