I work for a retail store and right now all they are doing is cutting my hrs. Also is it legal for them to do this because of the not working on Sunday. Thank You for whatever help you can give me. Shirley R.

If your religion doesn't allow you to work on Sundays, get a job where you don't have to work Sundays.

I live in Ohio, and I agree with some of the other answers here. Get a job that doesnt work on sundays. The company is most likely cutting your hours because it actually sounds like an excuse you are using to get out of working on the weekends. It may be your religion...but the world of shopping does'nt do that kinda thing .IE: Thanksgiving Sales, X-mas sales. Sorry to break the news to you, but you need to either work on sundays or get in where you fit in.... A company is not going to modify it's schedule to benifit your religious needs...... sorry

That is a good way to get your hours cut back more act like they have violated your civil rights and say that is against my religion.
They won't fire you but eventually find a way to do it for something else. They have a policy, don't hire a potential problem further down the road and get rid of one as soon as you hear it coming. That maybe what they are doing, cuting back your hours so you will quit. You set yourself up. If you go to church sunday morning ask for mornings off or go to one that has services in the evening. To get mornings off say I know you need us to work on Sunday and I like to be a team player so could I take someones late night shift and have those two hours for Church on sunday morning. Most Churches now have evening services for those who can't get mornings off.
If it is just that you don't like working on Sunday. Join the rest of us no one likes it. We had mormon's and JW"s working and they went to a Church that had 3 congregations meeting there.
They had one meeting at 6:30 pm So make it work but don't just say no sunday or your going to get fired.

You should have known the schedule requirements before you started the job. If you can't work the required schedule, you'll risk losing your job.

It isn't legal for any company to force you to work if its against your religion. You could sue them.
