Lighten up on the Christmas tree. I don't think it will create a hostile environment unless someone (like you) makes it so. Do you plan not to shop anywhere that Christmas trees are displayed? Good luck with that!

Christmas tree is a symbol of the season...which is peace and acceptance...not religion. I personally cannot understand how people can argue to not have these things put up in the name of religion when in fact they are just showing there own hostility to all religions other than there own? I have no problem with any religious symbols being displayed as long as no other religion is then refused the right to do the same. If they put up a nativity but refuse someone else the right to display a mennorah, that is a problem because it is discrimation. People need to start accepting and rejoicing in our differences instead of finding reasons to degrade one another. -- By the way, these attitudes will backfire if they keep up for a few more years. The majority of America believes the arguments against our Holidays are ridiculous and an uprising is brewing.

A Christmas tree does not symbolize Christianity, it symbolizes a holiday season. I do not think that the nativity scene is a big deal, either. It is your boss's company, after all, not yours. He does have the freedom of religion and he can put up whatever he wants at HIS company. Now, if he's passing out pamphlets and urging you to go to church or denying you raises because you do not have the same religious beliefs, then that's creating a hostile work environment. I think that he has the right to do whatever he wants to do at his company.

P.S. I'm Athiest.

I would hold off on a nativity scene. But, a Christmas tree, why not?

Christmas trees aren't a religious symbol. I've been to plenty of homes where the people weren't Christians but have a Christmas tree.
