Playing movies on your PS3 will wear it down faster than you can blink. I had a PS2, xbox and GC. I had the PS2 first, and I quickly realized after my first system that to play games and movies wears the motors to nothing. The games are always spinning and starting and stopping just to play any decent games.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a very plausible argument. What is the deference between playing a DVD movie vs Playing a Game off of a DVD. There really is no difference to the console playing it. The same thing will be with the PS3. It will be able to play games off of a Blu-Ray disc, as well as play movies from one. It doesnt matter which it is doing, it will die out from just as many uses from either one.

The few hours that I will watch Blu Ray movies on my PS3 is nothing to the days straight that I have left my ps2 running. I bought my ps2 the day it came out. Aside from taking it apart and cleaning the laser I have had no problems. And considering I played Final Fantasy games there has been thousands of hours put on it.

I buy game consoles to play games, and rarely use them for movies anyway. It is just nice to know that if Blu Ray does survive, I can watch a few here and there if I want, but Blu Ray is definitely not the reason I am getting a PS3.

The PS3 reads blu-ray discs quicker than the different stand-on my own blu-ray participant i've got tried (regrettably i did no longer attempt this LG one you're finding at). yet i attempted a great form of them in the previous settling on the PS3 (i grew to become into hesistant by way of fact i'm no longer a "gamer"). by way of PS3's Emotion Engine, it a lot blu-ray discs interior a million minute. this is whilst in comparison with maximum stand-on my own blu-ray gamers that take 2-5 minutes to load a disc and a couple of-3 minutes to load the actual movie. My runner up selection grew to become into additionally a Sony and that loaded discs at approximately 3 minutes at terrific. additionally the PS3 is between the terrific blu-ray gamers obtainable because's at the instant between the uncommon fashions that could pass on line and get carry of firmware enhancements as mandatory. The PS3 has HDMI verison a million.3 so it outputs 1080p and uncompresed audio codecs like DTS-HD. With version a million.3 it additionally has the features like Lip Syncing, Deep shade, x.v.shade, as long as your television and/receiver is v1.3 as nicely. some stand-on my own blu-ray gamers have HDMI version a million.a million or a million.2 so as that they could purely output 720p or 1080i and a few won't be able to output uncompressed audio in any respect. yet you're able to understand that on account which you're procuring around via specs. g success

Apparently, the PS1 is still one of the best CD players around. So I think you don't know what you're talking about.

Buy a PS3, get a free Blu-Ray player. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me, and a unique selling point.

I completely agree with you. I want manufacturers to go back to the core of why people buy consoles. To game of course, I could care less about watching movies on them. I want a system that does nothing but game.
