Zero 7 are really good - both albums
Sigor ros are amazing - avoid the first album as it was a little difficult for most tastes
St Germain - lo fi lounge room jazz funkish cool
Massive attack - when they chill out
The Sundays - great jinggly guitars from 90's hayday
Custom Blue - Realeased an Amazing Album Called ALL FOLLOW EVERYONE.Loads of different influences and moods all on one album.found it completly by accident and was a fantastic find.
Want More?give me a shout and i'll look through my cd's better.

Get you some 60's and 70's R&B. There's a group of cd's called Smooth Groove and so many kick back soft soul songs on them.

It depends on how old you are and what are your tastes, but personally I like Nat King Cole or Frank Sinatra to calm down with.
Affro Celt Sound is great for doing the ironing! Get's it done really fast!
Status Quo for doing the vacuuming!
Bob Marley at any time of day when doing everything.
Have fun!

A bit of Brian Eno would be a good starter - and Pat Metheny (well - before 'Still Life (Talking)', anyhows)...his later tunes from 1989 onwards were a wee bit pretentious. There are some classical composers that'll make you purr...Vaughan Williams and Messiaen for starters.

Andre Bochelli, Alicia Keys, Heather Hadley, Dido, any jazz station really, sometimes you can find a mixture of classical at book stores for a deal and that can be very relaxing background music.

It depends really how you feel. When I'm p'ed off I find a good shot of metal calms me down, when I'm just hyper I find some good bass tunes get me back.
Overall rthe best chillout music is some classical music, lullabies and the like.

I'm getting into Joanna Newsom A LOT- she does orchestral, harp led epics.
Asuna is also good - it's Japanese electonica for babies, but grown ups dig it too!
