i had a hang nail on my thumb and i pulled it off, it bled a little and i figured it would heal on its own. two day later it was really sensative and red, i put some disinfecting spray on it and some antibiotic cream, but it is still infected and is very sensative, its getting to the point that i where it hurts if any pressure is put on it at all and it hurts just to pick things up with it

What you need to do is squeeze it and get the puss out of it, then clean it with hydrogen peroxide and apply a topical antibiotic cream.
If you can't take the pain of squeezing it, try preparing a cup of hot water (hot as you can stand keeping your finger in) and adding about 2-3 tablespoons of salt. Soak you thumb in this for 20 minutes several times a day., dry and bandage with the antibiotic cream.

Keep cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide, neosporin and apply clean bandage to prevent further infection.
