He has runny nose, cough, and is congested.

I bought him some triaminic (the melt aways) and seems to work good. Any other suggestions?

The triaminic I bought is Infants triaminic. Trust me I will not try to give my child some medicine that is to strong for him. I love him to much to do something like that for him.
Thank you for your answers :-)

I am in the same situation. I like to use infants Motrin.. It works better than Tylenol. When my son was sick he had the same symptoms... If you have time you should go buy a humidifier.. That helps on the coughing and if he is throwing up a little from coughing so much. And if he doesn't stop take him to the doctor. I hope this helps.

You should check with the doctor (or a hospital nurse hotline) on the triaminic. I think it's for toddlers, not babies that young.

My son is 9 months. We've had good success with the infant tylenol cough & cold formula. It really seems to help him feel better and get some rest at night.

Good luck! It's so hard when the baby is sick and looking at you like, "Hey!? I thought you were supposed to fix it when I feel bad! What's going on???"

Any medication for colds should not exceed 3-5 days, there is usually a rebound effect if given more than this. Avoid kissing the baby if you have cough or colds. Wash first your hands before touching him if you have colds & cough because you might transmit the infection. Whitish nasal discharge is usually viral & needs no antibiotic but if the discharge is already yellowish or greenish, it is already bacterial & he needs an antibiotic for this. You should consult the physician at this point in time. The antibiotic for children are usually computed depending on his weight. Always go to the doctor & dont buy antibiotics over the counter. Any danger signs should also bring him to the doctor as faster breathing or alara fairing, meaning the nostrils keeps on flaring or when he turns bluish, bring him to the doctor as soon as possible.

Triaminic works great! You should stick with that. Also, baby tylenol works great, too. (But get the generic version, it's the same thing, and it's half the price for twice as much medicine. :o)

I think triaminic is too strong for a baby who is 7 months old, you should take him to his doctor and they can tell you what to give him, something age appropriate.

Our son is almost 9 months old. When he is sick besides the Tylenol, and Motrin, there are a few different kinds of the "Little Noses" they work pretty well with stuffy noses, sore throat. There are either the liquid form or the nasal spray. Also depending on what is wrong it is always a good idea to keep a dehumidifyer in their room when sleeping. One last idea is vicks baby rub, it smells bad, but it may work to unclog any little blockages.

Benadryl - No cold med seems to really help but that helps stop the runny nose and lets them sleep. I only give that to my 8mth old at bedtime and maybe once during the day for naptime.
I actually use the 'Equate' brand from walmart. Ask the pharmacy what dose to give (depends on pounds, not age). I make a one ounce bottle, put the med in that and let her drink it that way and then I give her the rest of her bottle. That way I know she's getting the whole dose and not spitting it out.

Poor little guy....

Mommy's milk is far and away the best medicine, hydrater, comforter. Don't raise babies without it!

I never used over the counter meds. Most don't work, anyway.

For congestion, nothing like a very steamy bathroom. Just sit in there holding your baby and letting the steam (run only hot water through your shower) fill the room.

Nothing is best. Anything that supresses a cold only lengthens its life. Some tylenol for fever and aches and pains is good, a humidifier and saline salution and a nasal aspirator are better.

Children's Motrin....it's better that tylenol even tho its from the same company. Humidifiers and taking him outside to get the fresh air to clear his little nose! Just make sure u have a hat on him.
