get hjsplit and split the files up into smaller parts. then upload it some where like megaupload. i belive th max size they let you upload is 200 or 250mb. when the recipient downloads if they will have to use hjsplit to join the files back together.

Hey dont send this large amount of data via the E-mail as it will overload U R server though U have the Mail provider who provides mail upto 2GB its not advisable to send it VIA e-mail as it takes more time than download to UPLOAD the file even if they use the high speed Modem which can transfer the data @ 1MB per second IT will take nearly an Hour to download and it will take more than an hour for U To Upload

No provider will allow you to send that big of a file. You will have to upload this file to a site that allows you to store files, and then the person you want to download it can get it from there. It would be easier to make a copy of the DVD and send it in the mail. Downloading that size of of file can take days sometimes.

if u'r computer has got a processor with 1,5GHz clock and 256MB of RAM. then i suggest kgbarchiver, which can compress files from 10GB to less than 20 MB (the compression ratio depends on the format. also, the other person needs to download the kgbarchiver software to decompress it to it's original format)
it's got inbuilt encryption too, so no worries abt safety. the catch is that it takes some time to finish compression, around 2-3 hrs for a 4 GB file.

http://kgbarchiver.sourceforge.net/

else, use free webhosting services like mihd.net , 4shared.com, ftp's that allow for free above 1gb storage & send ur friend the download link.

hope this was somewhat helpful.

Don't send it by mail. Even if you have broaband, your upload speed is slower than download speed, and it may take you HOURS to send it, and HOURS for your friend to receive it.

A better way to do this would be to get an account with an on-line file storage provider, such as MediaMax, where you can upload the file, and your friend can download it. Try that, and it should be easier. Still, with the file size it will take a SIGNIFICANT amount of time to upload and download.

Most of the hosting providers provide mail space upto 2 GB. But its not advisible to send videos by mail. Even if you have amazing speed, it will rather overload your server. Instead you can upload it to any bulk file storing websites like streamload.com or files anywhere.com and then ask the other person to download it.

No easy solution on this one.
If it is a video, you could convert it to DivX format.
That would reduce its size by half.
But then the recipient will need to install DivX in order to watch it.

For my part, I would upload it on a website and tell him to download it from there.
Or it might be quicker to post him the CD.

As people been pointing out, many service providers won't allow you to send such a large file.

As for the download time... if he has the same connection than yours, he will download it almost twice as fast as you did upload it to him.

do a search for hj split down load it and install then find out what the max file size you can send and what they can receive split the file into however many pieces is takes and make sure whoever you send it to has the program to join them back together so send the link to the page for them

Use hj split to split the file up into smaller pieces then send the files to yousendit.com. They will let you host files that are 1gb in size. So i would say upload them 900MB at a time.

It would probably be faster to make a copy, and send it through the snail. Unless you both have broadband, it will take at least one day to upload, and as long to download.
