Keep an eye on her for now - I wouldn't worry if you don't have to. And it's not your fault. People who say "you shouldn't leave things around like that" must not have small children. Kids put things in their mouths. It's inevitable. But like I said, keep an eye on her. She's up to date on her immunizations. It's not rust itself that causes tenanus - it's the bacteria. To cause tetanus, the bacteria has to gain access through a deep flesh wound. Symptoms of tenanus are muscle stiffness/spasms, irratibility, and fever. Keep an eye on those key symptoms. I'm sure she's fine - - -

Firstly it must be very worrying for you so please ignore all the ignorant answers you have been getting.

If your baby has swallowed the earring then there is only one place it can go - out the other end. It wll be passed eventually and shouldn't hurt as it will be cushioned by the poo.

Your baby won't get tetanus from swallowing an earring. This would only happen if they had a scratch from a rusty fence etc. Babies get scratches from all sorts of places (their fingernails, you by accident, the carpet).

Please don't worry, you're not a bad mum, these things happen.

Maybe the ear ring is in the baby's crib, play pen, or bassinet. Check the blankets and sheets make sure the ear ring hasn't some how gotten stuck on anything including her clothing and toys. As for the tetanus I am sure she will be fine, she had her tetanus shot, and as long as the ear ring wasn't rusty it should not be a problem. My son swallowed a penny when he was a year old, went right through him, he is now 5 years old and perfectly healthy.

I think you should listen to the doctor and watch to see if the baby has blood in her stool. If not, she's probably ok even if she did swallow the earring.

I also don't think you can tell how she scratched herself. My son seems to scratch himself with his fingernails, no matter now often I trim them or how short I get them.

She will be fine!

Do not worry...........her digestive acids will have destroyed any bugs, babies put all sorts of things in their mouths and you can not watch them every second of the day.........and you will have learned from this worry to keep things out of her reach.
and babies get scratches from all sorts of things and survive them.
she will get bumps and bruises as she learns to walk. it is worse for you than it is for her. enjoy her babyhood. it is over all too soon

I dont think she will get tetanus because i think it is from rust...
Keep watching the poo. x ray exposes her to radiation which may not be necessary.
