How old does your baby have to be to get the flu shot? I got it last year when I was pregnant and would like to get it for my son, just wondering if anyone had this information. I plan on asking the doctor when we go next week.

I think it's six months. I know we couldn't get it for our daughter last year because she was just born in sept., but this year she has already gotten one dose (children getting the shot for the first time have two doses a month apart). Good Luck and it's great that your going to get him the shot if you can!

Not before 6 months old unless the baby is high risk. Babies get two flu shots up until the age of 5. Children flu vaccine is differnt from the adults. I have twins and they have been getting the shot for 7 years. They were born in Sept and got the flu and rsv shot before leaving the hossy...

A baby must be six month of age or older to get a flu shot; there is some question as to whether it is especially helpful before the age of two years.

Babies that are 6-23 months old should get flu shots, especially if they are in day care and exposed to lots of people.

That age group is very vulnerable to complications from the flu and might need to be hospitalized if they caught it.

6 mos. My doc recommended that me, my fiance & our other kids get the shot to reduce the risk of bringing it home to the baby.

Sixth momths is the American Academy of Pediatricians guideline. I am going to ask for one for my daughter tomorrow as they were out during her last appointment.

Good luck getting one!
