What I mean is, when I am working on a piece and the pattern wants me to knit two together several times and then cast on 10 stitches for the armhole, how do I do this? I know how to cast on but I don't know how to cast on more stitches in the middle of my knitting. Do I just do a backwards loop ten on my right needle times? Please help! Thanks. I've tried looking on several knitting help sites without any luck.

The backwards loop cast on is perfect for casting on in the middle of knitting i.e. arm hole shaping. It's the only way I know how. I found this nice vid for it too... although I don't think you need help with it. Maybe someone else can use it.
