Unlock codes are different for every phone, it is dependant on your IMEI number, make/model of your phone and your network provider. Some phones cannot be unlocked by code, they need a cable and software to do it (and not the data cable you get with your phone).
www.nokiafree.org is a good site to search for your phone and see if it is unlockable by code, if it is they have a free unlocking calculator on the site to generate your specific code.
If it is not unlockable by code then i'm afraid you will have to get it done by cable, phone shops/market stalls will do it and also phoning your network provider. All these charge a fee though

you have to request this from Vodafone as each code is specific to the handset. Either that or take it down to the dodgy chinese shop, either way you have to pay :-(
