its not that your baby has no cardiac activity its just they couldn't find it, last week is when the heart started beating. Your friends O.B. is right they need to do an internal ultra sound to see and hear it. its ok. congrats and good luck.

Everything could be fine, or you could just have a yoke sack (no baby) in your uterus. 7 weeks is very early and it is not uncommon for them to not be able to detect a heartbeat with an abdominal ultrasound. I had a similar issue and it was because they estimated that I was 6 wks, but I was really 5. They can't tell this early very well, so that might be it. Everything was fine with my baby (I'm now 21 wks).

You'll find out next Tuesday for sure -- no one here can tell you. I know it's very hard to wait, but that's the breaks. Good luck and try not to stress about it, that won't help anyone.

Yeah the trans vaginal is better that early. It is a little soon for them to be able to tell with the regular ultrasound. With the doppler they can hear it around 10 to 12 weeks. At 5 weeks the baby is only at 3 week gestation. That is not far along at all.

well they should have done a transvagnal ultrasound, 7 weeks is too early to pick up the heartbeat any other way. I had a trans v. ultrasound at 7 weeks and they saw the heartbeat. Id demand another correct ultrasound if i were u, just to put your mind at rest. Good luck

I don't want to make you worry more, but you seem like you wan tinformation. I had an ultrasound a 6 weeks (4 weeks past conception) and had very distinct cardiac activity. It looked like a beating grain of rice! My friends all had the same at about the same time.
