They are all combined in a serious relationship. Any betrayal of trust is the ultimate as far as I'm concerned. It's all one big package.

Because it's such a private and personal thing. It's a big step in a relationship when it becomes sexual. It's something that should only be shared between these two people and is the ultimate commitment to someone when you decide to take that step. The friendship, compassion and understanding are very important as well, but you need all of these elements together to make any relationship work. It's one of the biggest acts of betrayal and shows severe disrespect for the other person. That's the bit that hurts, and that's the bit that throws the friendship, compassion and understanding out the window.!

People think that because in the media its all about sex and there are a few people out there that believe in just sex. For most friendship and compassion are more important, its the media that pushes anad makes the sex part of the relationship worse than ever.

True friendship is important but if one person sneaks behind the others back they are lying and deceiving them so where is trust and friendship. I don't think its all about the fact that their partner had sex with someone else, i mean yeah that hurts like hell because that make you feel like your not attractive and a whole bunch of other issues. But i mean it really brings to question if there can ever be any trust between you and your partner. How can they believe in you if you lied about something so major? And without trust weather you have sex or not there is no marriage.

Interesting question, of course this answer is in general,. Men feel that sex is the ultimate way to show their feelings for someone. (of course there is also sex for sex) Women contend that sex is sex and not a way of showing intimacy. (of course they do say this when explaining the reason for the minimal amount of sex they like to have within the relationship. Regardless of all that it is the ultimate betrayal, assuming you are in an actively sexual relationship. If you are in a once monthly relationship then it obviously isn't so important.

Because sex is probably the most intimate part of the relationship. When you make love you are putting your heart and soul into the person you are with and to think that that person you are giving that too is totally disregarding that gift and just going out and having sex with someone else is the ultimate betrayal. And while it is possible to forgive - the one betrayed will never forget.

human beings are naturally possesive and jealous.in as much as friendship, compassion and understanding are important in a relationship, sex is the tonic that keeps the relationship alive and you would not want to share your man or woman with another person since what you have is special between the two of you.therefore the thought or realisation that what you considered as being special is being shared with another person without your knowledge brings the feeling of betrayal.

sex is sex. Making love is what brings 2 people closer together. You can have you can have compassion and understanding with any friend but that doesn't mean you will sleep with them. Making love is the bond that helps bind that compassion and understanding with the one you love, as well as trust.

you share friendship with people, and compassion and understanding, as well as with your significant other but sex is something you only give to the one you love. thats sharing your body, your soul. the most intimate you. sex is not the most important part of a relationship, but it is important to keep it between you and the person you love. if you can share yourself in that way with others while telling one you love them, then i dont think you really love them. they are just convenient

If friendship, compassion and understanding were more important then people wouldn't cheat on the one's they are supposed to love.
I guess the betrayed spouse should be compassionate and understanding that you can't keep your zipper up if I subscribe to your line of thinking.
By the way, its betrayal
