I am a royalist, but I am also a realist. I love the Royal Family for the way that they have gone on for over a thousand years. However, I am a realist in that I realize that in this day and age, they are mere figureheads, while in the days of old, their ancestors weilded great power, and helped shape England.

I'm American so forgive my opinion if it's wrong. I believe every nation needs it's heritage and history and Royalty is so much a part of that for your country. I know that the Queen is one of the richest women in the world and that comes from the hardworking people she reigns over. America spends ridiculous amounts of money on State Dinners and pomp and circumstance as well. I sort of enjoy watching our wonderful British friends deal with the antics of the Royals while we struggle to make sense of George W. Bush!

All we know about the Royal family is what we get from the media. That tends to be distorted because the BBC all want knighthoods and Rupert Murdoch wants to be queen.

I've met the Duke of Edinburgh who I found amusing but decidedly a man of his day, and Prince Charles who seemed like a typical businessman.

First of all not being a Brit i was soooo disappointed when i first saw the Palace in London, i thought it would look like a fairy tale palace but it looks more like a government building, but besides that i love knowing what the royals are up to, personally i think they are the reason most people visit UK, cannot really think of another reason besides the lovely old buildings etc and the damp weather. But Yes, i think the Royals are tops.

I used to be a bit of a Royalist but I realise that in the modern world their time has passed...not just in Britain, everywhere. The divine right of kings? come on...they're people. And they ought to have to get jobs like everybody else.

I think the royal family are irrelevant and totally dysfunctional. they are supposed to be a special family but they are no better than a lot of families on any housing estate in any town in the country. the queen is the only one who would get pass marks, take a look at them, philip every time he opens his mouth he puts both his feet in it, three of her children are divorced, her grandson has dabbled in drink and drugs, and charles who is the heir to the throne, and therefore head of the church of england is a self confessed adulterer. if that is what a thousand years of breeding brings you can keep it

Princess Anne is Colonel-in-chief of the Communications and Electronics branch of the Canadian Forces. even although I overlooked being on parade whilst she visited, apparently she used to ensure actually, no longer purely wander up and down finding good as many dignitaries do. If she did no longer like something approximately your finally end up, she might enable you to already know! needless to say, she took her function heavily, and she or he earned a great form of appreciate (and no little concern!) among the lads in the C&E branch. I comprehend she is like that for the duration of many areas. She works perplexing, and whilst she turns into in touch, it is not in simple terms her call further for some form of cachet - she takes her Royal responsibilities heavily.

They are out of touch with the real world, they care very little about the people of the UK, and are just around as a figure head which is not needed, if they are to stay then they need to get there heads out of the past

I think they need to update their views. Its to bad the Queen and Prince Phillip were such lousy parents, but I think they were in another time in their way of thinking.
