Having a baby changes your life so completely it is hard to know where to start. Nothing is your own anymore, your life is not your own anymore. Every one of your actions has to consider this new person.

You can't even buy a pair of shoes without thinking:
Is it wet out and what should I dress her in?
Is the transport child friendly and are there any steps where I am going?
How long since her last feed, can I go yet?
How long can I go out before she needs a nappy change?
Am I prepared in case she vomits on her clothes?

Before I just used to hop on the train and go. This is only buying a pair of shoes. Forget about nice restaurants, jetting off on a whim or doing any exercise.

Well, it depends on what occupation you have and how involved the father is with the child. I work at night so my husband watches the children than. They go to school and I sleep until they get home. Sometimes they go to their cousins house if I'm really tired because my husband also trains horses and gives riding lessons as well as take care of our ranch.

If you are like most women, you will want to stay home with your baby. I stayed home with mine for three years, the most important years in a child's life. When I went back to work, I decided to work nights so my husband can be home at night with the little one, and I am home during the day. It really messes up your sleep and internal body clock, but it's worth it in the long run.
