They're for entertainment purposes only. Don't bet the farm on them!

I know horoscopes are intriguing and so often they seem to be accurate or close to it, but there is absolutely no real basis for anything they say - except for the fact that they are general enough, so that is seems to apply to most people.
You might as well use the Magic 8 Ball (my personal favorite)
If you are interested in a more detailed technical explanation, I'll give you this brief overview: (otherwise, stop reading now)

The ancients like to believe that there fortunes could be told in the stars. So they wanted to try to understand them better. And having made up names for certain patterns of stars, (the constellations) (remember, there was no MTV or iPODS) they then gave them the characteristics of the names they chose, like Taurus, the Bull -tough, strong, etc. The same was done with planet names, Mars, red planet, red for blood, red for war, combative.
OK so far? And that's fine as far as that goes.

It was when people started attributing the constellation characteristics to a person if they were BORN at that time of year, that things started getting off track. But what the heck, it was a natural progression, if self-fulfilling. For example, if a person was born in May for Taurus, and they showed ANY trait that was "bull-like" they said "Ah hah! See?" So that person grows up with an inclination to be what he is expected to be.
Basically, we would call that "Operant Conditioning" where the response comes BEFORE the stimulus, as opposed to CLASSICAL conditioning, where the stimulus comes, then the response (like Pavlov's dogs) But I digress.

Anyway, when you divide up the calendar in its 12 months, with a constellation for each month, the Zodiac (meaning zoo), the months are about the same length of time (28 -31 days). Problem is that the ACTUAL time the sun spends in each constellation varies much more widely, from 21 - 50 days.
So the astrologers made things simple by just ignoring that fact, and just used the more nearly similar times of the calendar, now referred to as the SIGNS of the Zodiac, not the actual constellations, themselves.
And the topper of it all has to do with the fact that if there really was any validity to the position of the stars and planets position at the time of your birth, it would have to be their actual position when you were born.
Unfortunately, due to a phenomenon known as the 'precession of the equinoxes' which I won't dwell on here, the sun actually moves backward along the Eclipitic Zodiac line, and into the previous constellation about every 2167 years. So in ancient times when the Zodiac was first made (like 2000-something B.C.) the sun was in Aries. Which is why all horoscopes still START with Aries. Then 2000 or so years later, oh something big happened then. And the sun had now moved into Pisces, you know, the fish. So that's why Jesus's followers used the sign of the fish to denote their belief.
And today 2000 years later (well almost, like 2100) the sun moves in to Aquarius. So, like the musical Hair says, "this is the dawning of the age of Aquarius." That's where that comes from.
So if you were born on July 14, you were born under the SIGN of Cancer, but the sun was REALLY in Taurus.

So believe what you want, but astrologers whose charts are based on ignoring the real (apparent) movement of the stars, have no factual basis for anything they say.

I hope you found this interesting, if not useful.

There are a lot of naysayers out there. Horoscopes are general, but I have found that the personality traits associated with each sun sign are very true. Also, if you want something a little more accurate, go with Tarot. Card-reading. There are a lot of different various decks and spreads you can use. I have been doing this for years, and 99% of the time, the readings are true. It is a fact that we are the only ones in control of our own destiny, but I use tarot more than horoscopes as a guideline when I want some genreal insight into the day or a particular situation. But, you need to make your own decision based upon your personal expereinces. Take what other people say only into consideration. There are many different schools of thought out there. Do some research, invest in a deck and book (go to half-price books, or amazon). Relatively inexpensive, no more than $25 for everything. Make up your own mind after you've looked into it. Hope this helps.

No, don't rely on them. They are like Nostradamus' predictions you can twist them any way that you want to justify events, if I could predict what was going to happen in the future, I would be a multi-millionaire, betting on the horses.

It is true and very accurate about me. Try get this book "Sdyney Omarr's Sun, Moon & You; an astrological guide to your personality" author by Phyllis Vega.

I read this to most of my friends and they were shocked on how accurate I talk about their charcter, personality, their inner feelings and emotions.

The book will also tells you how you were when you were young, teenager and also on your future and finances situation.
