I went there on a school tour a few years ago and found it quite dull...but then again I was only 15. I do remember it being REALLY beautiful though. The Palace was gorgeous and the Mozart museum was interesting oh and there was a big Ferris wheel as well. I have relatives who go every year before Christmas for the markets and the music. So like anywhere I guess it's what you make of it.

I think Vienna is a pretty cool city. There is a lot to wonder around and see but also it is just a cool place to hang out and spend time. I think it has a slightly more Eastern European feeling to it actually. Take a ride on the big ferris wheel at night. It is quite the view. There are also some beautiful cathedrals there.

It's worth it if you like that type of place. I describe Vienna as "Grand" and I like it much more than Paris. But if you have never been to Europe and can only afford to go for a short period or to one place, I suggest Prague for American tourists. You will get a true European experience with more English being spoken so it's better and they are using crowns still so it's quite inexpensive, where the Euro in Wien is expensive the pound is extremely expensive but it was worth it in London. San Francisco is my favorite big city. I'd prefer to go there than any other capital 9 times out of 10. If you have a particular interest in Austria, e.g. heritage or the famous artworks, it's definitely worth it!
