triple 7's stands for God. and accepting God and Jesus into your life. Who ever told you that 777 was evil has never read a bible. And if they attend a church their leader should never be allowed to teach another human being about religion again.......................

666 is not witchcraft--it is Satan. This number system is based on medieval heirarchy decided by the Christian church. It goes something like:
111 is God
222 is Archangels
333 is Angels
444 is Royalty
555 is Humans
666 is Satan
(Animals, plants, etc. are not included because it was a system for personified creatures)
777 means worse than Satan. In someplaces it is used by white supremacist groups (as three sevens in a circle like a three pronged swastika). However, I've also seen in used by other kinds of gangs as well. Perhaps, if someone told you it stands for witchcraft they themselves think witchcraft is evil?
There is also a song by the Pixies "This Monkeys Gone to Heaven" that mentions it (where most people know this from knowadays)---"If man is five and the devil is six then that must make seven. This monkey's gone to Heaven."

This does not stand for witchcraft. Witchcraft is based on 3's and NOT devil worship. Witches don't believe in the Christian devil. Devil Worshipers are Satanists (an offshoot of Christianity.) It is a combination of the "illuminate" if I remember right. Tell them to do their homework and stop spreading rumors.
