I work with this woman, Floella, who lives with her long-term partner, Malcolm, but keeps going on about his best friend, Sidney. The three of them have naughty weekends away in Sidney's mum's caravan down Bream, and I worry that she's going to give in to temptation with this Sidney.

Sidney suffers from depression, diabetes and narcolepsy, and I think she likes having someone so vulnerable to look after, as she can call the shots totally, especially in the bedroom. I know all three of them very well, and I'd hate to see anyone get upset, especially poor Malcolm. Should I intervene or do you reckon the three of them could work as a unit?

I bet they are already working as a unit, mutually dependent on each other for happiness and comfort. Flo has probably already "given in" to temptations with Sidney, and was probably joined by Malcolm. So together they are probably all they will ever want or need.

Unless they invite you in, keep your nose to yourself. Four is defintely a crowd.

Floella and Malcolm have probably both given in to temptation with Sidney especially if he can't sleep at night.

Keep your nose out of their business - they seem to be getting on alright without outside help!

You are concerned for your friends I can understand that but if you were to speak to them about it or even just floella would there be a chance of it ruining your friendship? If the answer is yes then stay out of it. They are all adults & whilst you care about their feelings they are old enough to make their own mistakes. If you intervene you may be the one that gets shut out & hurt so leave it alone, let them get on with it & if people get hurt at least they'll have you as a true friend to come & talk to.

If they're going away on naughty weekends, sounds like the only one it's not working for is you. I don't think you should get mixed in their affairs because more than likely in a case like this you would be in the middle and the one getting blame for putting your 2cents in. You know some people get very ugly and touchy when it comes to someone dipping in their personal life.

This is a complicated relationship. If she's a good friend maybe you could talk to her about it and see where she's coming from. Other than that I guess staying out of it is the best advise. It's way too messy.

Some relationships work for other people that may seem strange to others! I think that you should keep your views to yourself, and if it all goes wrong in the end, be there to support your friends!

Just voice your concerns in a loving way. Don't voice your opinions, just your concerns. If it turns into a good conversation then great, if not then at least you were a good enough friend to voice your concerns and let it drop.
