What are the advantages of web tv ?

so far i can see is there will be more overseas channels available to the people through the use of web technology to the tv.

but i am wondering why not computer web tv instead or inclusive?

Had one for several years. Other then being able to put up an onscreen TV listing and do some VCR programming with it, it was not practical.

Not having a mouse, everything had to be done with a keyboard click. Takes forever to tab your way through every link and button on a page to select something.

The display resolution is huge, so you can only see a small part of a page at a time. You have to tab around until you move to something on the next section of the page before it scrolls. Plus the details of pictures, etc are fuzzy. Also many of the fancier features of web pages do not work on Web TV.

ALso, since Web TV works ONLY on a dial-up phone line, the speed is very slow. You can not get high speed Web TV.

The only reason I kept it for as long as I did was that I was part of a group that got online surveys that you could ONLY take on Web TV. They provided the Web TV free in exchange for the surverys. Plus some of the surveys paid, so I use to average around $40-50 a month for them. (The ones that paid usually took an hour to hour and a half to complete 0 for $5.00)

When I got rid of my home phone and went totally cell, I had to pack in up and send it back.

Other then for the surveys (and TV listings) it was worthless. Would not waste my money on it.
