Hi
I would recommended cleaning your carpets and using a disinfectant like Milgo SR (may need to go to a janitorial supply store for this and ask for a disinfectant for carpet) and put it in the rinse water. Deodorizers just cover up the smell for a while and disinfectant kill bacteria in the carpet.
Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet

Call your local carpet cleaning service, they should have a reasonable answer for you. I don't know of anything that takes fish smell out of fabric short of using tomato juice and then bleach. This destroys everything I try it on by the way......

Rub baking soda generously into the spot, wait an hour, vacuum it up. Or try the same with coffee grunds. They are supposed to be good at removing odors.
