What are the best magazines / websites to send work to with the aim of getting it published? I write semi-fictional short stories with a humorous tone & am trying my hand at a bit of science fiction too.

I'm a member of http://www.newbie-writers.com and other members are always listing calls for submission. It's a UK based site.

JK Rowling- harry potter, and when you're youthful there's a e book said as the tail of emily windsnap through liz kessler. those are the really 2 uk writers i understand of in the present day..
