Sounds like a yeast infection hon. Get some over-the-counter Monistat.

A vaginal infection is a bacterial infection...but it is not some weird bacteria you need to be horrified of. Normally, inside the vagina, there is bacteria and yeast that live there naturally. They are supposed to live there to keep everything working and functioning normally. But when either one of the two gets out of balance and starts to overgrow, an infection occurs. If too much yeast grows, a yeast infection occurs. (A yeast infection would produce a white "cottage cheese" like discharge.) If too much bacteria grows, a bacterial infection occurs. Either way, it's nothing to panic over and can easily be taken care of.

But to be sure it is a bacterial infection (and it does sound like you have a minor one), you need to go to your gynecologist. She will take a culture and then look at it under a microscope to see how severe the bacterial infection is or if it even is a bacterial infection (also called Bacterial Vaginosis). When she determines that it is a bacterial infection, she will give you an antibiotic, either in pill fom or in a vaginal gel or creme form.

I recommed eating yogurt regularly during the antibiotic treatement (or taking the Acidophillus suppliment) to help keep the yeast in check so that doesn't over grow as the bacteria is being killed off. Sometimes the antibiotic can do it's job too well and kill off too much of the bacteria. But you still need some to maintain balance.

You can go to the drug store and get one of those douches that have the povidine iodine packets in it and try that.
Make sure also, like the one girl said, that there is nothing up inside of your vagina like a tampon.
Try the monistat over the counter. If none of these things work then you should get checked out. It could be something else and who knows what.
While this odor and discharge is going on, stay away from sex. If it is a yeast infection, you can pass it back and forth between you and your partner.
Good luck.

1. You might have a yeast infection... you really need to see a GYN, before it develops any worse!

2. We tend to worry much more when we start dashing all about trying to learn and understand, but, are working on it without a teacher or expert at our side.

You should close the big Nursing book, and call the doctor. Please.

This sounds like a bacterial infection. You should make an appointment with your GYN right away. I think they are treated with antibiotics and cream. I don't think it's yeast, because there is a bad smell. Good luck to you.

i recently suffered almost the same thing...the odor was very bad no matter what i done...i have a question for you..do you use tampons?....if so make sure you havent inserted a tampon without taking the old one out....i had apparently used a faulty tampon cause i went to doc over the same symptoms and when she went to examine me she found a top half of a tampon up next to my cervix...faulty tampon..make sure this isnt the issue.
