What are some ideas for a great news article?

it can be anything like the dams running low to the local school disco..ok im not that creative :-)

it depends what you need to write about. Is it school events, world events. Could it be current, or a recap?

The easiest thing to write about is the news article you find rather interesting.

So browse through the Sunday newspaper, from the front page, through cooking and leisure, and stop before the comics and classifieds.
At least one of the news items will be interesting to you in a personal way.

Then begin writing your paper with a thesis statement like "I found the article on Thanksgiving Turkey interesting." Follow that with a few statements about what made the article interesting. That will be the introduction paragraph. Allow a paragraph for each thing you felt made the article interesting. In the last paragraph, summarize the interesting parts and state your main point as a conclusion. That does NOT mean you merely rearrange the wording of the thesis. Instead, you should make a statement that uses your points as evidence that your main point is true. Something like "I found the article on turkey interesting BECAUSE it is timely, well written, and full of good ideas."

Something that just happened, the Tsuanmi alert in Japan. There was an earthquake not long ago. Look up stuff about Tsunamis: what countries have been affected by them in the past, where to go to try to get away from the coming flood waters. Look up stuff about earthquakes: numbers, the intensity that they stand for.

This could happen just about anywhere to anybody. It would be interesting reading for all.

Keep your eyes and ears open for news reports about Japan and nearby islands and countries. Add this info to your article.

May I suggest the followings:
The Chinese government has a very respectable and impressive records of Human Rights. They have not torture and/or kill each and every single one of their citizens... well, at least not yet. They only killed a few hundred innocent victims who were protesting for democracy during the Tiananmen square massacre. Oh, by the way, the tank man was not ran over. He was probably executed.
Aren't ya prouda Chinese Governemnt???
