I see no reason why they should not be able to marry but then I am not Catholic...I do not know if my opinion matters.

Great idea - the celibate priesthood was brought in as a cost saving measure during the middle ages - before that priests were allowed to marry.
During the time of the Borgia Popes an illegitimate son succeeded his father as pope so you can tell just how well the clergy embraced celibacy.

I always think it slightly strange that celibate single priests in dresses feel themselves qualified to counsel people on relationships. A celibate priesthood has only a theoretical knowledge of marraige and procreation.

The Vatican already allows Priests to be married.

In fact, our church had one until very recently, when he was arrested and jailed for being a wife-beating, child-abusing drunk. (Father Bill, St. Virgil R.C. Church)

I think they should let them marry.
I think they should actually encourage it.
It was only because ONE man decided on celibacy that the church decided it should be the way for all.
And let's face it. It isn't right to expect a healthy adult male to live alone and lonely. Church or not, they had to see the repercussions coming long before they became public knowledge.

Well done to whoever brought that up. Priests have needs as well. Although they wont be so righteous now would they?

I couldn't not give a crap what they do...
however, if it gets them onto the straight and narrow and they stop doing all the other stuff that they are famous for, it can only be a good thing right??
