since saddam been arrested, whats the point in staying there? do u think the insurgency will EVER stop? it will never stop! and how is the military "doing us a service" by being in iraq. please go into detail and please dont repeat pres bush's meaningless excuses

SAddam had nothing to do with our being there to begin with. Our IDIOT president saw an opportunity to IMPRESS his DADDY because SAddam tried to have his dad killed back in the day- Remember, there were NO WMD's at all. NONE. We should not have gone there- and everyone seems to have forgotten that Osama is the one who admitted to the 911 attacks, yet we apparently dont care about finding him. When theres all this oil to be stolen by occupation in Iraq. Does anyone ever wonder how OPEN TO ATTACK having so many of our military in Iraq that we have made the United States? We have so little soldiers left to protect our own country that we couldnt provide support to help out victims of the Katrina Hurricane until it was already too late. It is ONLY a matter of time before the UNITED STATES becomes INVADED and OCCUPIED, and you think Im kidding or crazy? We couldnt even know when a CHINESE SUB was tailing one of our ships until THE CHINESE decided to let us know about it. We are overconfident and vunerable to attack. Just wait and see when the **** truly hits the fan and you find that it takes a week or more for the US to get its troops back in the US from IRAQ to protect its own soil. The chinese army outnumbers us 4 to 1- and most of our army isnt even in our own country. Do the math.

It's no longer a battle. It's an invasion. If you noticed an grownup beating a child, could you name that a 'combat'? War signifies that each events are at even. USA simply went and overwhelmed Iraq. Now, considering the fact that Hussein is a foul character, does that justify to kill countless numbers of blameless iraquies? History is repeating itself again. America either goes into a war or steps into a war that has already started in order to help our allies. Then we win and we stay to pay for the clean up, to help the citizens of that country get back on their feet, to provide security for a while so we know that the enemy won't return. I think that's why our tropps are still there. We went in because Saddam didn't heed our warnings. We captured him and his in no longer in control of Iraq. We stayed to help clean up, protect the citizens, help Iraq form a new govt and provide security with their elections, our troops are building schools and homes and doctor offices. They try to secure the streets so Iraqians can open their stores and do business. So children can walk to school and play outside. Ex-pres Saddam was killing his own Iraq citizens. He wasn't killing people in Russia or Japan, he was killing his own countrymen because they didn't want to follow his sick rules. He had plans for kill other people in other countries. We found out about some of these plans and we went in to stop him. He took him out of power. But his forces are still killing and they don't care if they kill themselves or a child just as long as they kill an American. We are still there to help the new Iraq govt gain control of their own country and to protect the citizens. They want a peaceful life, but as long as Saddam's men are still in there, there will be no peace. I think it's bad that other countries aren't helping as much as we are. Our American troops are heros! They aren't just fighting terrorists but they are building new cities for these people. I don't know if it will ever get better, I think the Iraqians need to step up more and take control faster than they are but I don't know what's all involved. Our troops need more military help from other countries.

Not a thing, the whole war thing has turned into a political debacle, as all wars do when you get politicians and public opinion running the war effort. Might as well bring the warriors home and let the enemy follow. What a waste.

Any citizen of the US, with a brain and who is able to read newspapers, should know why the US military is in Iraq.

The main purpose: win the war on terrorism. A secondary purpose: prevent Iraq from decending into chaos and civil war.
