I put 4 goldfish in a new tank to start the cycle. They are large feeder goldfish, and pretty. But I originally intended to put oscars in there. The oscars I want are smaller then the goldfish, What will happen if I put them together? I don't want to get rid of the goldfish, but I want the oscars too!! what should I do? Please help!!

My brother used to have ocsars and would feed them the feeder goldfish, well for some reason they didn't eat one of them and it lived with them just fine until he got rid of the tank. It was around a foot long by that time. Some oscars may try to eat them even though the goldfish are bigger at this point but I don't know how fast the ocsars grow so they may catch up pretty fast. But the goldfish may have a chance because they grow pretty fast the first year of their life. I guess it's just a gamble and if you want to take the chance then go ahead. If not then you can build a pond or get another tank just for the goldfish.

Oscars are Tropical Water fish that come from the waters of Amazon river. They have very specific requirements to thrive and grow up and if you do not meet those they will get sick and die. One of the most important is water temperatures. Goldfish should be kept at temps between 22C-24C and they are very tolerant to water parameters. The Oscar needs temperatures between 25C-28C and optimally soft clean water. Oscars are carnivorous and very aggressive fish they will probably eat the goldfish.

Finally Oscars grow to about 10 inches or more. Is your tank large enough for such a fish? Are you ready to care for it feeding frozen and live food, because feeding it just flakes won't do.

As a last word Goldfish and Tropical fish do not do together. So forget that. You need to choose. however consider the increased demands that a fish like an Oscar would have. Are you ready for the commitment.

Well, the oscars might bug the goldfish for now. But when they are big enough the goldfish will be dinner. Oscars are great fish. I had a huge one for a while. Good luck.

They sell a pellet foodstuff for Oscars. i do no longer understand why an excellent puppy keep would not enable you to already know that. they do no longer consume general fish foodstuff. An Oscar will improve to extra healthful the gap they stay it. I had 2 Oscars and have been given them as toddlers. They crammed a fifty 5 gallon aquarium! i began feeding them goldfish as a handle. i finished up with a ten gallon tank just to maintain the feeder goldfish in. they'll consume as many as you will feed them. Then they do no longer prefer the pellets any extra. My 2 have been extensive. they might greet me as quickly as I entered the homestead....they might come to the actual of the tank and actually stick their heads out of the water. They watched each pass I made. they might consume the goldfish out of my hand. They make good pets. yet, you specific won't be able to feed them fish flakes for their foodstuff regimen........

I heard that as your Oscar grows (and they get really big) it gets more aggressive and will eventually kill or eat the other fish in your tank. Ive never had one so I don't really know for sure but from what Ive heard he will probably eventually eat your goldfish.

goldfish are very cute.if you want them to be fine do not keep oscars with them.they will have fights and either one of them may not get proper food because the other one may take away all its food.
they both are very delicate so be careful.
