I have been friends with this person for about 3 years now. We both have busy lives, but we both have a lot in common and talk on the phone for hours when we have the time. The problem is, a relative staying with her deletes all my emails and is really rude to me on the phone and refuses to let me talk to my friend. I think she is jealous or something. Since she has came around, I have hardly spoken to my friend at all. I really want to keep my friend, but I dont want to cause problems. What should I do?

Let your friend know whats going on, if she got half a brain, she'll work out what this half wit is doing anyway. How very insecure this person must be. You could feel sorry for them I suppose, but hey, dont bother.

If you dont act now your friend will slip away for ever. My advise is make time and pay your friend visits and go pick her up and make plans for just the two of you and catch up. Whatever you do dont let this slide because if this relative leaves the wedge will be between the two of you and i dont think that relative even cares about the both if you some people are born with a mean strik of distraction so play by the rule and give her a taste of her own medicine and make trips and dates that leave this person lonely and dumb struck. Save your relationship it could see you guys in your wheel chairs at 100 God willing.

Don't count on the friend to notice what the relative is doing. Speak up for yourself in a nonconfrontational way. Let your friend know something has been going on and that you miss her, and don't want to let something like that strain your friendship. Start inviting her to come see you or you go see her and take her out someplace where the relative has no business coming along and the relative will have to get used to the idea she can't push away your friend's friends anymore.

Go see your friend in person , say i haven't heard from you in a while is everything OK have you received my emails ? phone messages ? don't let on that her relative is being rude... just make sure your friend knows you having been trying to make contact !!...save arguing with the relative if you leave out details

Are you sure this is "just a relative"?

You need to talk to your friend and let her know how you feel and what is happening to your e-mails! How is the relative gaining access to your friends personal mail?

Find out what is really going on and how your friend feels about the situation.

Tell your friend what is going on and how you feel, maybe she isn't aware that her relative is doing this.
