Don't worry. Calm down. There's still time for you to practice now. Practice in front of a mirror if you don't have someone to sing to. This could get you use to singing in front of a crowd. remember never ever give up when you're aftering your dreams. Never be afraid to step and challenge yourself to achieve something you want. You can do it!

No one can convince you that you can do something; you need to just decide to believe in yourself. Positive self-talk will go a long way if you truly work at it. Tell yourself that you can do it and don't worry about what others will think. If you live your life concerned about how others will view you, you'll never live as who you honestly are. And as for your parents, cut them some slack. It's probably not that they don't care, just that they have outgrown worrying about how others view them a long time ago. Not to mention that they have every faith in your capabilities. Many times we are viewed as having talents that we simly can't believe are ours. Take hold of yours and go out there & do your best. What's the worst that can happen -- people will think you didn't sound good? That hasn't stopped a lot of American Idol wannabes. At least you don't have the whole world watching. Good luck.

urm..
if u join, you will know where u stand among all the contestant
and u will learn from the experience and gain confidence
but if the comments are too harsh for you then maybe u will be hurt (emotionally) and maybe lose even more confidence
but since people wants u to join
maybe they think that u are capable to win or smt
so
just join :)
but be metaly prepared!
