It's the other way round. America is located in the south of Canada, it's the bit which contains poor people and baseball fanatics.
Remember, however, Britain owns Canada (and therefore America).

The average American when asked if he has ever been out of the country will say something like, "I've been to Canada but that doesn't count."
It is incorrect but many Americans feel Canada is so much like the US, I guesss it is a backhanded compliment.
