Im wondering how to put a valance on a metal bed as the bed end gets in the way. Can you buy a specific one for this purpose or can you just not fit one? Im trying hard at this house husband stuff but its more difficult than you think guys!

Actually: if your talking about a canopy, my wife does interior decorating. There's a number of ways you could do this. Use an round or oval shower rod and hang it from the ceiling at the correct height.
If it's a four poster bed, you would have to find a way to hang it between the posters. Usually it's just attached to them, the frame.
This is what you have to make is a frame. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate.

If your talking about a "skirt" Why don't you go to "Joann's" for your sewing projects or another fabric store and ask a clerk, they have Lot's of help there, and be specific about what you want, have your dimensions ready and your colors.

Ah sweet. You can get valances that fit on the mattress, then have slits at the corners to go round frame, or if you feeling ambitious, you can MAKE the slits and then sew up the rough edges,,,, you got a lucky partner, partner....
