if there is any breast milk at all, you should try using a pump to get the flow of it going, then try feeding your baby from your breast. if it works for him, and he is fed this way, your breast milk may reproduce so it's not lacking. there are bottles that are shaped like a womans breast...the nipples are "wide mouth nipples" gerber makes them as do many others. possibly it's the formula still, maybe try to put a teaspoon of cereal in it. and you should also feed the child baby cereal mixed with the formula so he gets some of the nutrients needed. DO NOT give the baby cows milk until at least a year old, also do not give the baby honey. these are VERY bad for children under one!!! talk to his pediatrician, that is the best thing you can do for him...it may be that he is lactose intolerant. if his diapers are runny and it looks like there are curds in it, he most likely is. you should also try feeding him jar food by now. doctors say not to until they are about 6-9 months old, but I started my oldest on jar foods at 2 months...cereal at 2 weeks. you just have to be cautious of what kinds. wild berries are not a good choice as he may have allergies. try giving him bananas or applesause in a jar for starters. I hope you solve this problem for the sake of his nutrition!!!

DO NOT USE HONEY!
This can cause botulism in babies under 12 mos which is a SERIOUS condition. I know a little girl who almost DIED of botulism. NO HONEY!!!!!

Have you tried pumping and putting breastmilk in the bottle? Maybe he would be more willing to take the bottle if it had a familiar taste.

Milk supply is all about supply and demand....the more you nurse and pump the more milk you'll have. You can also try supplements such as fenugreek to boost supply. (Read the link on fenugreek to make sure you have no counterindications to taking it.)

Try Avent bottles.....many breastfed babies do well with them. Make sure you are using a slow-flow nipple so he isn't overwhelmed by the milk coming out too fast. Also, consider trying a soft spout sippy cup WITHOUT a valve or a Rubbermaid "juice box." The Rubbermaid bottle is good because it's a straw and you can squeeze it to squirt some milk in as he gets the idea how to use it.

Make sure someone other than mom is offering the bottle. If mom does it, he's smart enough to hold out for the real thing. :-)

I agree with the mom that said NO HONEY. As a matter of fact, I am so nervous about honey, I won't let my kids have it until they are 2.

Anyway, my kids were breastfed until 8 1/2 months and the ONLY bottles they will use were the Advent bottles. I tried many different bottles and spent a fortune on them but Advent was the only one they would take. Also, try giving part breastmilk and part formula in the bottle to get him used to the bottle. Good luck.

You might try a different brand of bottle. The Playtex Nurser bottle might be a good choice, because it has so many different nipples you can try. Like the other posts said do not give your child honey until at least a year old.

Try different bottles, different nipples. And have someone else feed it to him besides you or he will just want your breast.
You might also want to try mixing breastmilk with formula and then slowly reduce the mixture to complete formula.
Do not give your baby honey until 2 years of age, you are feeding him botulism - it is a small enough amount for us to handle but not one so small.

Not trying to be mean or anything, but come on!! That's probably why you should have introduced the bottle back when he was a few weeks old.. You wouldn't be going through this now had you of done that.. I'm not trying to say to starve your kid, but he'll eat from the bottle if he gets hungry enough... Let him know that the bottle if the only way he's going to get it, and eventually he'll start to understand.. Good luck
