There is quite a bit of peace in the world now by historical standards. There are only a handful of countries stlil warring. While civil and ethnic wars will rage on, at least the UN is in place to stop another world war. With the UN, there will be no more Hitlers or Napoleons ect...

It doesn't seem to be in the nature of our race. For myself peace is a place beyond this world and is for those who are willing to live in peace; for those we see in the news speaking hate there are others trying to live in peace. This is not a totally bad place we live in.

Sure. But only after we have destroyed civilization beyond recognition. That would be when Christ returns. We have been promised a millennium of peace and no war.
