Sarch is correct... England is part of Britain which in turn is part of the United Kingdom.
Britain is made up of England Scotland & Wales.
The United Kingdom Is made up of Britain plus Northern Ireland.
There is no difference between Britain & Great Brtain (Britain is just an abbreviation). The term Great when used for Britain originated from the French who used to refer to us as Grande Bretagne inorder to differentiate between us & an area in France now commonly known as Brittany. It does not mean we are great as in terrific, brilliant..lol

It is not something a lot of people acctually know, and you just need to look at the answers here to prove how ignorant people are.
In all fairness, Search is correct and first.
Great Britian, including Britain and the British Isles refers to the chunk of land all conmnected together formed of Scotland, England and Wales.
Scotland England, Wales, etc are all parts of the country; A bit like American States.
The UK, properly called "Her Majesties United Kingdom of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the county of Berwick upon Tweed, the Channel Islands and the overseas territories" (As per the heading on the decleration of War against Russia many decades ago) consists of everything that is the land of the Monarch.
Interestingly, the decleration of peace against Russia read:
"Her Majesties United Kingdom of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the overseas territories". County of Berwick-upon-tweed was ommited in error, which meant that for almost the next 75 years, Russia was at war with Berwick-upon-tweed, a place on the borders of Scotalnd and England.

England is really a province, just as Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are. (Great) Britain= England, Scotland and Wales and the UK=England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland therefore all together they form the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

England is merely the country of England (or should I say kingdom)
Britain is Great Britain and includes England, Scotland, and Wales, which together comprise the entire island and some outlying islands.
Whereas the UK includes the island of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as numerous smaller islands in the surrounding seas.

England includes all counties south of Scotland and East of Wales, plus the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, the Scilly Isles and all the smaller and nearer islands.
Britain also includes Wales and Scotland (and all their islands, from Anglesey to the Orkney isles).
And the United Kingdom also includes Northern Ireland, the British Virgin Isles, the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Turks & Caicos, Montserrat (Hong Kong no longer since 1997) and the Falkland Islands (plus some really tiny and sometimes uninhabited islands and parts of Antarctica).
While all of the above are disputed by some, and many of them are significantly self-governing, they are still ALL represented by the UK government and by most of its major ministries, regulatory bodies, armed forces and other (non city, town & county) public sector organisations.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (ofter abbreviated to "Britain") is a country made up of four constituents, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Some people regard these constituents as being countries in their own right, which they are not.
Most of the population of Britain are ignorant of the makeup of their own country. But not as ignorant as the Americans.
