This was one of the big stories of the 1999 Australian Open. It's a little funny because Mauresmo is now noted more for versatility than for sheer power, but at the time she was one of the first to play what Mary Carillo has called Big Babe Tennis. Lindsey Davenport lost to Mauresmo in the semis and innocently remarked afterwards that it was like playing against a guy. Apparently LD had been unaware of AM's recent coming out, and she issued what was generally taken to be a sincere and proper apology. Martina Hingis, who was quite the motormouth at the time, called Mauresmo "half a man", and never really apologized. Hingis won the final but has yet to win another major.

Yep. My friend is from france and she came down not to long ago. And she was telling us that one of her teachers was going out with Mauresmo... So yes she probably still is!

i read that article and man,she has had a load of partners.
she even left her parents house to live with one of her girlfriends.
its all out in the open that she is lesbian.

Because she's an athlete at the top of her game and as such, tends to carry herself with a certain masculine- attributed gait. I think she's sort of sexy, in a Neanderthal/Cro-magnon kind of way, but then I'v always had a thing for tomboys and gymnasts...
