I just got it pierced last thursday. Everything was fine up till Sunday, where i guess my hands were dirty and caused my ear to swell. I thought it would go away but it didn't, even after 3 days. I tried ice and alcohol but it barley works. There are times where it is so swollen, i can't even see the earring. is there anything i can do to reduce the swelling?

I had the same thing happen to my ear!! I had to remove the earring and after that I noticed a foul smelling drainage. It could be a cyst and then you will need Dr. RX for antibiotics. You could try warm compresses and OTC triple antibiotic ointment to see if it will go away. For some odd reason I have 1 ear that is super sensitive to anything but silver, gold or platinum??

Go to the doctor - you might need to take the earring out and you also might need antibiotics if you've developed a nasty infection.

Look for these signs: swelling, warmth of the area (warmer than surrounding tissues), pus, and pain. Those are pretty good indicators for infection - good luck.

What you're describing sounds precisely like an allergic reaction. even with what different people have reported, the only supplies that are specific to be hypersensitive reaction-unfastened are right here: IMPLANT grade steel, titanium, niobium, PTFE, silicone, glass, and stable, extreme-karat gold (no longer something below 14k, 18k is terrific). against worry-unfastened perception, silver is between the worst options for comfortable dermis (or ANY piercing for that remember). undeniable surgical steel (even whilst that's marketed as nickel-unfastened or hypoallergenic) can nonetheless reason allergies.

Leave the earrings out until you have time to heal. You may be allergic to nickle which is in the metals of cheap earrings. Use sterling silver or real gold but only after you have healed.
