I am interested in becoming a pharmacy assistant in the first instance. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get into this career?

That's what my sister does. She just answered an ad in the shop window. She has a few GCSEs and no A Levels and she's doing great. Now doing training and stuff NVQs I think to become properly qualified. She's quite a people person and delivers precriptions and other bits to the old people who can't get to the shop - she helps the open the jars and write out the labels in big writing if they can't see it very well and really enjoys it. She could never be the actual pharmacist as of course you need a degree for that but I don't think she would want to either. It could really just be a question of luck.

Myfriend works in a Lloyds Pharmacy she just started off on the till, then they sent her on NVQ courses and is working her way up, she didnt have any special qualifications previous to working there or any experience.

i do,first off go to your local pharmacy to ask if they have any part time vacancies, if they do, apply. Next get in touch with your local college/university to find out about courses in the Pharmaceutical field, if you do not have any luck with either of them, go to your local library and find out if they know of any courses that may help you get to pharmacy, Good Luck, Ali
