Where do most of the Hillbillies in South Africa live?

I know of a few places but would like your take on this

If you mean gagga people (common, tappet, ducktails, onderdorp types) then in Pretoria we three main areas where if you really have to drive through, you make sure not to stare at anyone coz they'll throw 'stywe pap' at your car. They are ( and I sincerely mean no offence to anyone) Danville - Pretoria (Danvillites and Papsakke live there), East Lynn- Pretoria(Eastlynniete live there) and then there's the Wolmeriete who hail from Wolmer in Pretoria.

EDIT: DF382 Danville and Daspoort are actually in Pretoria West. Wolmer is in Pretoria North though. And I totally forgot the maplotters or 'turftone' as we call them.

See here's the thing, I need you to define what a Hillbillie is please.

Because if he is a homeless person, sleeping rough then in any of the towns or cities in the country.

If he is a backwoodsman type - then SA has their own backwoodsmen (although not sure how many are left) but there used to be a fair sized community in the Knysna Forrest, when Big Foot and his companions still roamed the Forrest.

If you mean folk who have dropped out of the rat race and live alternative lifestyles or are artistic types then there are small semi rural communities all over South Africa where these guys have gone and kept those small communities alive. Without then we would have many more ghost towns than we have at present.

The parlimentary compound in Cape Town and also in the Department of Health staff accommodation.

Other hillbilly locations are:
- the Eastern suburbs of Jhb - Boksburg. Benoni etc.
- Small Free State Towns Kroonstad, Parys, Welkom etc.
- Bapsfontein
- Pretoria North - Danville Daspoort etc.
- In the forests near Knysna
- You'll also find maplotters on agricultural plots round the main cities
- Cape Town - the bergies are pretty interbred & some of the Northern suburbs

Everybody knows Danville is like one of the top hillbilly places, then I think Randfontein is also close to that top, coz in one of the Guinness world records books it was in there for most alcoholic consumption in a month and the most alcoholic sales in one year...

In Natal a little village called Umkomaas. Lots of hillbillies who do nothing but smoke pot and surf all day.

hey dude.in capetown and the garden route there are small communities of them scattered about.notably in capetown you get oudemolen village and red hill village.lots of rastas and hillbillies doing their thing.they make crafts and sell it on craft markets.in their spare time they just hang around and smoke skyf.i used to hang out with this hillibillie girl who was from england.she used to live in red hill village.red hill is like a very small squatter camp but with some white people living there too.it was like a new experience for me ,seeing all these weird people.they are very cool people but tend to smoke too much ganja.this english girl that i used to hang out with was usually gerook most of the time.there are also small communities in the wilderness,george and knysna on the garden route.

You get hillbillies anywhere really, and no Cape Town isnt the only place, that's just stupid to think bergies are hillbillies.
Bergies are homeless people, you want to tell me where you live there are no homeless people?

My dad says somewhere in the Cape...i can't remember the name...but there are some other places...can't rmember where?

to cindz_jess...what are you trying to prove? If the cape was the only place where hillbillies were, I would've said ONLY there! those are just one of the places! Plus, is it a crime to not know exactly what a bergie is? Sheesh! I have seen homeless people!
