Why wouldn't be? We domesticated dogs and cats shouldn't we take care of them?

Depends what you mean about rights, I mean of course it is wrong for animals to be tortured and kept in degrading conditions.
However, I am all for animal testing if it is done correctly and saves human lives, I would put a persons life above an animals, at least most people anyway.
No seriously though, a lab rat who helps produce vaccines and medicines is something that really annoys me when the activists start rallying around and threatening people for.
I can understand the cosmetic thing though, I can see why if a test is being done on an animal for reasons other than saving lives then I would not disagree with them.
But when you see the animal rights activists outside genuine farms and butchers saying we shouldn't be eating them? That is just ridiculous, and a message to those types of people would be this, if we were not meant to eat animals,
They wouldn't taste so good! Mmmmmm yum yum.
People may be offended at this but is my view and I have this right. Animal rights activists offend me but you don't see me moaning about it

Of course we should take care of the earth's wildlife (NB I don't mean to sound like a hippy there!)
But people who are against animal testing? That's just going too far!
Also, from a scientific point of view: we should kill and eat animals, because that is the natural way. There is something called a food chain, you know! Animals kill other animals. A human itself is an animal. So humans, to keep healthy etc, need to eat animals.

As long as you back human rights as well.Case in point,I am a truck driver and because of the anti polution laws,we cannnot idle our trucks to stay warm in winter or cool in the summer for more than a 15 minute period in an hour, however if we have an animal with us,we can override that law.Makes sense that an animals comfort is more important than a human beings?Being in a truck at a shipper or receiver in 100 plus weather is like sitting in a tin can in the sun.

Animal rights are the responsibility of each and every person.
Only we can protect them and speak for them.
Yes it is right to back animal rights and as a human being your responsibility.
However groups like PETA take it to the extreme. Even though they have good intentions.

Animals dont have rights .The only thing is too many people give animals the power of deductive reasoning which they dont have.I am totally against cruelty to animals but lets get it right. The welfare of a child is paramount to a lab rat ,breast cancer research is more important than a gerbil and the eradication of aids is more important than the so called rights of a monkey.

I'd have to day no. Not the way it is done, peacefully is fine.
But when letter bombs, threatening families of workers, stealing the dead bodies of loved ones and dumping them to be found many years later. Attacking homes etc etc. That's something completely different.
Unfortuatley animal testing has led to some of the worlds life saving drugs and treatments. Human life is more important.

There is nothing wrong with protecting the animal rights because they should be taken care of by the people to maintain the equilibrium in this world.

yeh sure, i just don't agree with peopl who put them before human rights. we are a nation of animal lovers, me included but you also have to remember human charities and campaigns that are just as if not more worthy. i always think it is interesting that the RSPCA is 'Royal' and the NSPCC is just 'National'

why not? They have no real rights and cant speak for themselves so it is up to us to make sure they are cared for properly.
Domesticated animals and animals which are kept in zoos etc cant look after themselves as we have taken them away from their natural habitats so it is up to us to ensure that they are happy and healthy, after all, we took them away so they are our responsibility.
I would sooner back animal rights than human rights any day...they have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous.
