I have a number of female friends who work as professional models and promotions girls. All of them at current are unrepresented by an agent. Some of their careers are beginning to take off. Several of them have approached me to ask if I would be interested in acting as an agent for them since they feel I have the soft skills and business accumen to do a good job + they trust me.

I have no doubt I could do the job (my current role is very similar) but what I want to know is if anyone can give me any advice on setting up as an agent - is there anywhere I can go for training? Any books or information worth reading? Any web forums anyone knows? any other information advice you can give me?

Thanks for your time.

Update.

Everyone must start somewhere.....I work as a headhunter so have no problem networking and building professional relationships.

It is also worth noting that all of the people I would initially be signing up are currently successful and working - I.E they are getting calls offering them new work all the time, what they want is some one 1) To take the calls 2)To negotiate fees 3)Take care of contracts 4) basically to act as a middleman so they can get on with what they do best (looking pretty).

It's "on the job training." If you are in NYC, I can guide you.

I do believe it is not just that easy.

You must have the conections and respect of those you want to hire people you represent.

you don't need to become one you just need the companies to know that you represent them. when you get them auditions and get them jobs you can network yourself. the people hiring them need to know that they need to contact you for anything about the girls. it almost like head hunting you just need the right friends and you will meet them through auditions. good luck tho.
