Nod32 by Eset is the best, its not too expensive but it is very technical.
AVG free consistantly gets top ratings in tests.
Avast also picks up some trojans.
Its very difficult for any anti malware program to pick up everything, and you must keep it updated. Your surfing habits are as important as your software.

If you are talking best in terms of virus detection rates, not much gets past NOD32 or Kaspersky. They walk all over Norton and McAfee easily. Although it remains a pretty close call NOD32 may just slightly beat Kaspersky on terms of its advanced heuristic detection.

Was using the FREE AVG but it didn't catch 2 virus in my computer. Kaspersky did so I'm switching. I guess you get what you paid for...

i used to use Norton.then after some advice off of these pages and reading up some magazines i swapped to AntiVir.
the difference is brilliant.
Norton was so Bloo*y slow.
AntiVir is quicker, has far more updates (Almost daily), and most importantly FREE.it also found stuff hiding which norton hadent found.
Spybot is also good for your spyware needs.

I use A SQUARED2 for malware,alongside AVAST! anti-virus,no probs with either.Couldn't really tell you whats best,as i don't know them all,i just use what works for me and what i'm happy with.

kaspersky anti virus 6.0 is the one i am using but it is expensive... a very good free one is clamwin...just type it into your search engine...i used it on my old pc for years but my new one came with this on
